Quarantine!!!

So here we are, just two days short of being home for 3 weeks. This week Cayden is sitting on the pot to pee after baths…we are working on more often starting tomorrow. As a lot of you know, this was pushed in the baby homes. Well it so happened, we had the pot sitting in the bathroom and he had a ton of gas during his bath so we sat him on it afterward and he looked down into the pot between his legs and went #1!!! Hopefully we’ll be able to do #2 soon :-) Actually, I don’t mind changing his diaper because he lays down and puts his legs up and it reminds me he is still a baby. Even though I often see a little man in him with those thinking eyebrows. The other thing is the kissing! He is learning how to kiss. Today at breakfast while Momma was feeding him, Steve leaned down and Little Awesome kissed him! This was great! After all, it kind of was our first affectionate (happy) thing. He as let us cuddle him when he trips or is startled but just to kiss out of happiness? It was beautiful!!!

Attachment has been going fine I believe…more so with Steve. Since the beginning, Little Awesome has been thrilled with Steve and they play and laugh hard together. Momma is a little more conservative. Also, I was supposed to be completely off for the first two weeks home and ended up working 35 hours each week. One thing I was happy was I was working from home. Until Aug 17th I am supposed to be working one day from the office and 12 hours from home. We’ll see how that goes but I doubt my company will respect this.

Well, this post is all over the place…regarding Quarantine…we sometimes are like a summer party house on the weekend and starting this weekend, we are going to ask that only Steve, Little Awesome, and myself enjoy the weekend together…we truly love having everyone over but it is too much for the baby. He needs time to learn who his Momma and Dad are…when we have people over it confuses him because he is used to different caregivers and doesn’t differentiate between our friends, family and us. This is not good. We have to go back to the basics with Steve and I meeting all of his needs until he truly understands that we are his parents and he is stuck with us :-) Here is a great post someone wrote from their gorgeous daughter to their friends and family that explains it in detail:

Some more ‘firsts’…I caught Little Awesome leaning against a wall trying to step into his sneaker. He has been trying to put on socks as well. He is also more vocal…almost singing in the car when Steve and I are talking or singing.

Well back to work while he naps…more to come!

oh, one last note…I picked up the 2 disposable camera films from between the trips and one did not turn out :-(
BUT the other one did thank God! It was beautiful because there were pictures of his caregiver who CRIED when we took Little Awesome! I couldn’t believe it and I was so happy to have pics of a lady who loved him so much!

  • Yeah—I finally found your blog! First off, thank you for posting on mine and by all means, I’m glad you posted the “quarantine” link from my blog on yours. If it helps even a tad, then it’s my pleasure.

I found it so funny about the disposable cameras. We left 2 and they took about 3 pictures on one and about 10 pictures on the other. Most pics are the caregivers ONLY (none who we recognize, unfortunately) and about 3 are of Kristina. The others are of other kids! I do recognize one of the kids who was adopted by another family we know so they will be thrilled… Glad to hear you had a little more success with the cameras than we did. But don’t get me wrong…I treasure the 3 that we now have of Kristina that we didn’t before!!!

    Continued blessings,
    Laura :)
