So, what’s up?

I highly doubt anyone is still reading this but it is my New Years resolution to get more involved in blogging. Little Awesome is exactly that…awesome! We had a great holiday (with the exception of being terrified of Santa) but other than that-it was fun! I will be moving my blog to a free site soon and updating regularly….more info to come! Happy Holidays and Happy New YEar!

15 Weeks home and first professional photo sitting!

Well sort of sitting! Hey everyone! Guess what? He is still taking 2 naps 2x a day for 2 hours; sleeping 12 hours; he eats everything I make! And some of his vocab now consists of: apples, bananas, football, baseball, car, bye bye, hi, nana, pop pop, up, down, max, cat. He uses them all appropriately…he also knows what sounds a cow, cat, dog, monkey, monster, alligator, and some others do. As a matter of fact, in the morning, if we don’t get up immediately on Mamma, Daddy; he starts to bark! Yes we have 2 dogs so he hears it all the time :-) OMG can this kid dance as well! I love pandora on the IPhone and so does he. We put on MIchael Jackson as a channel and he dances and dances. Whether he is on his feet, in his high chair, morning or night…soon as he hears music, he is dancing! Right now he is looking at me and shaking his head to ‘london bridge’. Here is his pics!

Where have we been?

11 Weeks home! And what miracles are happening daily! Today we went to the Safari at Great Adventure and by the end of the day, Little Awesome could make monkey noises and say ‘Baboon’. He now says so much, I lose count of what he is learning…but only this week he starting repeating things immediately after! Anything…we have to watch our tongues! Here are some pics:

Rest In Peace Michael Jackson

So I have to say it….I have cried alot since MJ died.  I would not say I was a huge fan and knew every word but I have grown up with him.  Who hasn’t?  I was born in ‘75 and had a Michael Jackson Barbie Doll in the 80’s.   I’ve been moved by his music time and time again.  He holds a world record for donating to the most charities.  The world loved him, every country, everywhere his music brought people together.  I totally didn’t expect he would die.  As a matter of fact, if you view the footage from two days before he died he was dancing, moving, all normal.  Weird.  Anyway, there is always of course a ‘conspiracy theory’ and were his children really his biological, etc?  I don’t care, I don’t understand why people can’t open their minds to realize you don’t need a biological link to be a real Mom or Dad.  The people who are suffering most over this loss are his children and his family.  I hope they can find some sort of closure and I pray that the media LEAVES THEM ALONE.  If I was at the celebrity level of MJ I sure as heck would cover my kid’s heads in veils to avoid the media.

Anywho…I really miss Michael and pray for his kids and family to find some peace.  MJ is now with God and there is no better place to be.

They are the ones truly suffering...

I wish he would cry…

Thought I’d never say this but I really wish Little Awesome would cry out for us when he wakes up.  The poor little guy would just sit in his crib all day if we didn’t get him out.  Sometimes he does say ‘Daaaaaaaaad’ or ‘Maaaaaaa’ but this week has been rough because of teething.  He is running a slight temperature and he isn’t feeling very well at all.  I feel so bad for him.  Tomorrow is our doctor’s appointment so hopefully they’ll be able to help him.  We have a video monitor and that is a HUGE help because when he isn’t feeling well, he’ll wake up, sit up and just play with his monkey.  So we go in and make a big deal when he wakes up.  Typically if he doesn’t have a temp he is soooooooo excited to get out of his crib, his beautiful eyes light up when we open the blinds and he’s ready to face the world.

TV has been discovered this week.  We’ve pretty much gone all these weeks with no TV but he’s been cuddly so we lay on the bed and watch some Thomas.  Truth be told, he doesn’t really ‘watch’ it, just listens and plays with us.

Even with the teething, he has been doing great!  He loves the pool.  I have to re-read my own posts to see what I have already said and what I haven’t :-(  I’ll get on board soon.  Good news though, we booked a cruise in January with family and friends so that should be a blast.  I can’t stand the winter, I can’t wait to go!

Six Weeks Home

So here are a few updates.  Little Awesome can yell Papa when he really wants something…he shakes his head no basically answering a lot of our questions.  He absolutely loves the pool.  He picked up sign language for table (it’s his favorite place - food).  He know says ‘cracker’ which sounds like crak-kur; it’s really cute.  We use a cracker or teething biscuit after his meals to end the meal (transition object).  He know says All Done and puts his hands up when he is filled.  This is a HUGE improvement, he recognizes that he doesn’t have to keep eating.  He is growing so quickly.  He is out of 12 month clothes and rapidly expanding height and weight into 18 month clothes.  July 10th is his dr.’s appt and also his 18 month birthday!  We celebrated this weekend and gave him chocolate cake which of course he loved…Mommy doesn’t give him sweets since he has such a love for fruit.  We had a Fifth of July party and he handled it awesomely!

Quarantine!!!

So here we are, just two days short of being home for 3 weeks. This week Cayden is sitting on the pot to pee after baths…we are working on more often starting tomorrow. As a lot of you know, this was pushed in the baby homes. Well it so happened, we had the pot sitting in the bathroom and he had a ton of gas during his bath so we sat him on it afterward and he looked down into the pot between his legs and went #1!!! Hopefully we’ll be able to do #2 soon :-) Actually, I don’t mind changing his diaper because he lays down and puts his legs up and it reminds me he is still a baby. Even though I often see a little man in him with those thinking eyebrows. The other thing is the kissing! He is learning how to kiss. Today at breakfast while Momma was feeding him, Steve leaned down and Little Awesome kissed him! This was great! After all, it kind of was our first affectionate (happy) thing. He as let us cuddle him when he trips or is startled but just to kiss out of happiness? It was beautiful!!!

Attachment has been going fine I believe…more so with Steve. Since the beginning, Little Awesome has been thrilled with Steve and they play and laugh hard together. Momma is a little more conservative. Also, I was supposed to be completely off for the first two weeks home and ended up working 35 hours each week. One thing I was happy was I was working from home. Until Aug 17th I am supposed to be working one day from the office and 12 hours from home. We’ll see how that goes but I doubt my company will respect this.

Well, this post is all over the place…regarding Quarantine…we sometimes are like a summer party house on the weekend and starting this weekend, we are going to ask that only Steve, Little Awesome, and myself enjoy the weekend together…we truly love having everyone over but it is too much for the baby. He needs time to learn who his Momma and Dad are…when we have people over it confuses him because he is used to different caregivers and doesn’t differentiate between our friends, family and us. This is not good. We have to go back to the basics with Steve and I meeting all of his needs until he truly understands that we are his parents and he is stuck with us :-) Here is a great post someone wrote from their gorgeous daughter to their friends and family that explains it in detail:

Some more ‘firsts’…I caught Little Awesome leaning against a wall trying to step into his sneaker. He has been trying to put on socks as well. He is also more vocal…almost singing in the car when Steve and I are talking or singing.

Well back to work while he naps…more to come!

oh, one last note…I picked up the 2 disposable camera films from between the trips and one did not turn out :-(
BUT the other one did thank God! It was beautiful because there were pictures of his caregiver who CRIED when we took Little Awesome! I couldn’t believe it and I was so happy to have pics of a lady who loved him so much!
